Dr. Sadiq Abdulla
Dr. Sadiq Abdulla is a renowned vascular and transplant surgeon, recognized for his pioneering role in advancing vascular care in Bahrain. He trained in Bahrain and the UK at leading institutions, including St. Thomas’ Hospital and The Royal Brompton.
He re-established the Kidney Transplant Program in Bahrain and founded the first Integrated Vascular Surgery Unit, contributing significantly to the development of specialized medical services in the country.
Dr. Sadiq Abdul achieved numerous medical milestones in Bahrain, including performing the first successful kidney transplant in 1999 and the first cadaveric transplant in 2001. He established several key programs, such as the cadaveric transplant program and the organ-sharing program between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. In 2006, he introduced laparoscopic nephrectomy and served as the first president of the Gulf Vascular Society. Additionally, he founded Bahrain's first vascular and endovascular unit, vascular laboratory, and diabetic foot clinic, as well as a specialized varicose veins clinic and the first Lymphedema Clinic.
